Neolamprologus brevis is a small shell-dwelling cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika. The male reaches 5.5 centimeters in length, and the female is a bit smaller. N. brevis is unusual among shell-dwelling cichlids in that both fish in a pair share the same shell. It is a popular cichlid among aquarium enthusiasts.
